Szymon Krzyżanowski is a lens-based artist working across photography and video.
His practice is concerned with atemporality, creating images that resist precise temporal identification and exist between past and present, recognition and uncertainty.
He explores the possibilities and limits of cinematic language within video art, drawing on the conventions of film while questioning their established forms and structures.
Through formal exercises, he investigates how the construction of an image can shape perception and challenge the conventional ways in which visual art is experienced.

Artwork perception
I am interested in how a work of art is not a fixed object but an event that happens in the viewer’s perception, constantly reshaped by context, memory and attention.

Film form
I explore film as a language, using its unique form in ways that no other art form can replicate.

Photography essence
I am interested in what remains when photography is stripped down to its bare essentials: light, time and a point of view.

Time capsule
I think of photography as a time capsule – a way of holding and reactivating moments in time.
